27-Year-Old Nebraska Man Who Posed as High Schooler Sentenced to at Least 85 Years for Sex Crimes
A 27-year-old Nebraska man who posed as a high school student and committed multiple sex crimes has been sentenced to at least 85 years in prison.
According to reports, the man, identified as Tyler Rhoades, was arrested in 2020 after an investigation revealed that he had been posing as a 17-year-old high school student to prey on underage girls.
Rhoades was charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, child molestation, and other sex crimes. During his trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Rhoades had used social media and other online platforms to lure his victims and engage in sexual activities with them.
On Wednesday, Rhoades was sentenced to 85 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of sexual assault and child molestation.
"This sentence is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to bring this predator to justice," said Lancaster County Attorney Joe Kelly. "We hope that this sentence brings some sense of closure to the victims and their families."
Rhoades’ victims, who were all underage at the time of the crimes, have spoken out about the trauma and harm caused by Rhoades’ actions.
"I was just a kid when this happened, and I thought I was in love with him," said one of Rhoades’ victims. "But he was just using me for his own twisted desires. I’m just glad that he’s finally being held accountable for his actions."
Rhoades’ sentence is a significant victory for the victims and their families, who have been fighting for justice for years.

How did this guy have time to attend two high-schools and a job
Lots of parallels with the movie *21 Jump Street* except those were cops and they didn’t get sentenced to almost 100 years in jail.
Well now he has time to study for all the exams he did not pass.
How tf did anyone see this grown ass man and think “ah yes, totally a high school student”
And I know some kids can grow quickly but the dude is nearly 30 trying to pose a decade younger in a building filled with clearly young teenage faces and at two different schools at that.

Dude looks like someone in his late 20s literally no one questioned that? Or someone in admin just decided it’s not my problem.
I dated a girl in high school in 1998 for a year and a half. In 2001 it was discovered that she was 31 years old and posing as a high school student. The media referred to me as “the prom date” and it was one of the biggest news stories of 2001 until 9/11. It was a crazy story for a teenager to get wrapped up in. I’ve considered writing a book about it.

Once I stopped being confused about how you could produce child pornography of someone over 19 years old, I realized that laws must be catching up with the fact that teenagers taking pictures of themselves probably shouldn’t be treated the same way as predatory adults sexually abusing children. So that’s nice, I suppose.

I’m all for holding people responsible but why do sex crimes get sentences massively longer than many homicide sentences?
