Rare 1943 Copper Cent Error Coin Sells for Record-Breaking $1.1 Million
In a shocking turn of events, a rare 1943 copper cent error coin has sold for a staggering $1.1 million at auction, breaking all previous records for a coin of its kind.
The coin, known as the "1943 copper cent error," was believed to be a misprinted version of the 1943 copper cent, which was replaced with a zinc-coated steel cent due to a copper shortage during World War II. The error coin features a copper obverse (front) while the reverse (back) is made of zinc.
The coin was sold by Heritage Auctions, one of the world’s leading numismatic auction houses, to an anonymous collector for $1.1 million. The sale set a new record for the highest price paid for a U.S. coin, surpassing the previous record of $900,000 for a 1913 Liberty Head nickel.
The discovery of the 1943 copper cent error is credited to a young boy in Alabama, who found the coin in his change at a local store. After researching the coin, the boy realized that it was an error and sent it to the U.S. Mint, where it was confirmed to be genuine.
The coin’s rarity is due to the fact that only a few dozen examples of the 1943 copper cent error are known to exist, making it one of the most elusive and valuable coins in the world.

Another person made a post yesterday had me looking at me wheat cent collection again.
I forgot about some of the coins I was going to share and have the experienced collectors on here tell me what’s going on here because I can’t figure out what to call this
I definitely can say that: the circumference of the line is perfectly the same distance from the edge of the penny as the bottom of former president Lincoln lol (feeling like a news reporter saying that)
I think it’s cool because it’s literally perfectly aligned with him and don’t know what caused it bc reverse is normal
