Omaha Storm Chasers Sell Team to DBH to Focus on Soccer, Ending 25-Year Era in Omaha
In a shocking turn of events, the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, have been sold to DBH, a leading sports entertainment company. The sale marks the end of an era for the team, which has been based in Omaha for 25 years.
According to sources close to the deal, DBH plans to relocate the team to a new stadium in Omaha and shift its focus to soccer, joining the United Soccer League (USL) as its newest franchise. The sale is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Storm Chasers were founded in 1998 and have a rich history in Omaha, winning six league championships and producing several notable players who have gone on to successful careers in Major League Baseball.
"This is a sad day for the city of Omaha and the Storm Chasers family," said Bob Nutting, the team’s principal owner. "We have been proud to call Omaha home for 25 years, and it’s difficult to say goodbye. However, we are excited to see the future of professional soccer in our city."
DBH has a reputation for developing state-of-the-art sports venues and bringing top-notch entertainment to cities across the United States. The company is expected to invest heavily in the new stadium and team infrastructure.
"We are thrilled to bring professional soccer to Omaha and to partner with the community to create an exciting and entertaining experience for fans," said DBH CEO, John Smith. "The Storm Chasers have a rich history, and we are honored to carry on that tradition while introducing the city to the fast-paced and exciting sport of soccer."
The move is seen as a significant development in the growth of professional soccer in the Midwest, where the sport is gaining popularity. The USL is one of the top professional soccer leagues in the United States, with teams based in cities across the country.
