They’re happening so often now we don’t even blink when it happens anymore. You hear about on the news for a few days and then the world moves on. From KIDS DYING. That’s so fucked up. I literally grew up thinking active shooter drills were normal in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Over the summer in high school, my teachers worked with a company that does realistic enactments of shootings to prepare. When I got back there were keypads on EVERY DOOR, and the code changed every semester. We had so many more drills, and my robotics teacher taught us how to secure the door with rope and to use tools as weapons. My chem teacher said if we were to have a real shooter that he would unlock the cabinet that held all the dangerous chemicals and said to use whatever was necessary (like acid). We would have some violently bang on the door asking to be let in, hear mock gunshots. We were never told when it would happen. The only consolation was that the loudspeaker would say “this is a lockdown drill”. Except for the one time it wasn’t. “This is a lockdown. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill. I HATE school, I HATE school shootings. WHY DO KIDS HAVE TO PREPARE TO FIGHT FOR THEIR LIFE???

Sorry but this is life now
Too many people, too many guns and not enough access to qaulity mental health care
One thing that changed my perspective on the guns debate was realizing that America might be banking on heavy gun ownership as a deterrence for an invading army
Like let’s say a country came in and somehow was able to invade our country
It would be a nightmare for them. You’re just being shot by random people from there homes, every house is basically dangerous.
I don’t think we’re ever gonna get rid of the guns, its one of our biggest defence systems.
