For context, I’ve been POMO/disassociated for 15 years.
I haven’t been in contact with any of my old “friends” aside from those who have also left.
My absolute best friend growing up messaged me on Facebook at midnight. As far as I know she’s still PIMI but I haven’t heard any news about her since she moved out of the country several years ago. The message was a screenshot about a new movie that came out which is based on our favorite book series from our teenage years and it just said “They finally did it”
Like, what? Do I even accept the request?
Would you ignore it or probe to see if she’s questioning?

Well you’ve been disassociated for 15 years. Doesn’t look like they can do a whole lot to u. I would probably reply with a few thought provoking questions to see where she’s at. Where has life taken you! Etc? If she’s out respond further. If not, let her go.
Or if she’s still all in. Throw out. What’s your opinion on the Australian royal commission case study 29
Or
What’s your opinion on the letter posted to the U.N website about JW’s Just google UN, jws and letter.
It doesn’t hurt to probe, at least you’ll have the answer instead of wondering
The fact that she has reached out to someone who’s disassociated indicates she’s PIMO or maybe even POMO or at the least PIMQ.
Test out. If you smell any PIMIness, run!
She probably is using this as a way to try to reconnect with you or show you she is thinking about you. She probably feels she is not breaking any rules because she is not really “talking” to you. I can understand how much this hurts. I find PIMI friends think random, one off messages show how much they love you because they are kind of breaking the rules for you. But I often feel angrier when they do this. Like it somehow makes up for them shunning you for years. In some ways I wouldn’t gratify her with a response. It’s such a casual message when truly she should be asking you if you are ok, apologizing for not talking to you, and trying to make amends.
Be the friend you always were. Shed any of the conditional JW garbage that comes between relationships. She may be reaching for a helping hand. If she isn’t, it’s her loss. If she is, you can help her.
If you are POMO with nothing to lose, straight up, ask her; “have you made it ‘out’ yet?”
I had a friend from Bethel contact me after over 10 years. It became clear he was still PIMI but I was super enthusiastic to reconnect with him and relive some old times. At the end of the conversation, I told him my friendship is not conditional. And, my door is always open if you ever need to talk. My enthusiasm and offer of help were genuine. And it completely diffused any notion that I was somehow weak, depressed, or otherwise struggling. To the contrary, I can help him if he’s ever struggling.
