I know this has been said many times before, but wow… the new branding is really terrible. Like its horrible. Honestly miss the old branding a lot because the university genuinely looks bad with this new branding. Also just really confused why they are straying away from the "Berkeley" name and going to "UC Berkeley". Like Berkeley is so iconic, it was the only UC that didn't need the "UC" in it. The new logo, "B", like what the actual f is that? The new font is utterly disgusting genuinely looks horrible. Maybe its the nostalgia in me, but holy hell I'm just honestly sad about it.

Maybe seeing them so proudly advertising their #2 ranking is adding to this. Like 10 different respected publications ranked Berkeley as #1, why not share that? Hell, US News ranked Berkeley the #5 university in the WORLD, why not share that? UCLA is like #11 in the world in that ranking. Let's flex that.

From Cal Football, rankings, and brand presence, being an alumni of Cal is hard.

  1. Honestly, the Berkeley experience peaked before COVID.

    It was a time when
    – Berkeley was the no. 1 public school
    – the university logo didn’t look like it was drawn by a kindergarten with dyslexia
    – UCBMFET was the best meme community
    – undergrads could have taken graduate courses that weren’t overfilled
    – EECS/CS majors could easily get industry jobs and get into any graduate school
    – social scenes on campus weren’t dead and as shallow
    – the “hell yea” guy could be heard all the way from soda hall
    – classes were getting canceled due to the smog from wild fires
    – people were protesting and going chaotic when trump won
    – Nick weaver was off his meds and gave us *the mad professor speeches*
    – ChatGPT and AI bullsht hype never existed

Now look what we have…Reddit…that’s how far we fell
