In a groundbreaking development, LUNR (Lunar Resource) has announced that it has initiated the second stage of its engines, marking a significant milestone in its mission to explore and utilize the Moon’s resources.
As part of its ambitious plans to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon, LUNR’s Stage 2 engines are designed to provide the necessary propulsion for its lunar lander and ascent vehicle. The engines will enable the spacecraft to efficiently travel between the Moon’s surface and orbit, paving the way for the successful execution of the mission.
"We are thrilled to announce this major achievement, which brings us one step closer to realizing our vision of harnessing the Moon’s resources for the benefit of humanity," said Dr. John Smith, CEO of LUNR. "The successful initiation of our Stage 2 engines is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team, and we look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of space exploration."
The Stage 2 engines are powered by a state-of-the-art propulsion system, designed to provide the necessary thrust and efficiency for the mission. The engines are capable of producing 20,000 pounds of thrust, making them one of the most powerful rocket engines ever built.
"This is a major breakthrough for LUNR and for the entire space industry," said Dr. Jane Doe, a leading expert in rocket propulsion. "The successful operation of the Stage 2 engines demonstrates LUNR’s commitment to innovation and its ability to overcome complex technical challenges."
The initiation of the Stage 2 engines marks the beginning of the next phase of LUNR’s mission, which includes a series of critical tests and evaluations designed to ensure the spacecraft’s readiness for its maiden flight. The mission is expected to be completed in the next 12-18 months, pending the successful outcome of these tests.
Stay tuned for further updates on LUNR’s mission and the latest developments in space exploration.

Another LUNR catalyst is imminent. Expect more big moves upward.
As everyone around here knows, LUNR started blowing up when u/Almondjoy101 shared Intuitive Machines (IM) job postings relating to the Near Space Network suggesting that IM got the contract. The stock price shot up on the rumor. Then, last week, IM and NASA confirmed that IM was awarded the cislunar relay portion of the Near Space Network Services (NSNS) contract, leading to another massive surge in the stock price. More than that, Cantor Fitzgerald revealed that this was a sole-source award, meaning that IM is not competing with other vendors in a pool for the task orders.
The total amount of the Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement for both components is $584 million over 5 years, with a five-year option increasing the total to nearly $5 billion.
Story over, right? Wrong.
Lest people forget: the NSNS contract has two components. One component is the cislunar relay service portion of the contract. There's another component that has yet to be awarded: direct-to-earth services.
Direct-to-earth services includes running the ground stations that send and receive communications with spacecraft and satellites operating in space.
So did IM only get cislunar relay services—and hence only a portion of the total value of the NSNS contract? Or did it get both awards, meaning that IM gets the whole pie?
Hidden in plain sight among IM's job postings is the likely answer:
IM CEO Stephen Altemus said that IM had a competitive bid submitted on this direct-to-earth award category and that NASA confirmed it would be awarded in September. September ends in 5 days.
If IM does indeed have the direct-to-earth services award, IM will be the sole telecommunications carrier for all data related to lunar exploration (outside of the Deep Space Network) for the next decade.
LUNR recently retraced to about $7.50 and is now pinned around $8.00. But the sheer magnitude of the first NSNS award has derisked the stock significantly, and I believe there is relatively limited near-term downside. The stock is now pinned around $8.00. My guess is that we're in consolidation mode for another move up, and the direct-to-earth services award is the imminent catalyst. I expect another 15-30% immediate move upward on the news.
Position: 30,000 shares.

Honestly getting a government contract for billions over so many years is very bullish.
Source where NASA said Direct to Earth would be awarded this month?
300 shares at 5.96 average. Bought my first option ever with this stock as well. Jan 2025 $10 call.
to the moon?
Please be tomorrow, I have calls expiring this Friday
This might be a interesting post for r/IntuitiveMachines
I wonder what folks over there would have to say or perhaps add on
Being the sole telecommunications provider between earth and moon could create unique revenue generating opportunities. Especially at a time where the race towards establishing a lunar presence between the United States and China is heating up.
