I don't know why but I just emailed a whole lot of Volvo USA leadership and CEO on EX90 delivery delays and lack of clarity. I'm not hoping it will make my car delivery quicker but maybe get some clarity. Or maybe I'll get nothing but a usual acknowledgment. No harm in trying though 😉

I don’t know where to start, but the experience of pre-ordering EX90 and waiting for its delivery has been very painful and disappointing. It makes it worse due to the lack of communication, contradictory statements and utter misleading statement from the top Volvo leadership.

I pre-ordered EX90 as soon as it was announced in USA in Nov 2022 (Reservation Number: 0000xxxx ; Order ID: US-000xxxxxxx) . When the initial news came out of the delay I was totally understanding and still eagerly waiting. But going into 2024 and still having no clarity, is totally unacceptable from Volvo as a brand. It seems that Volvo is taking its customers for granted and doesn’t even care about them.

I configured my vehicle and it was approved also by my dealer on 15 July 2024. I have chatted with Volvo customer care (through Volvo app) twice since and asked when my delivery will happen, because the app still says my vehicle is Ready for built since the last 2 months and keeps showing changing estimates. The customer care simply say ask your dealer. When I told them that dealer isn't manufacturing the vehicle and cannot do anything unless Volvo builds and delivers it, they have no answer, and just apologize.

When I check with my dealer, they say that they see the delivery dates changing constantly but have no clue as to why it’s happening and points to Volvo. The customer care says this is what our management has told us to tell the customers if they complaint and we cannot help you any further.

Can someone really tell me what is happening ? When will I get my EX90? Will I really get it this year or not? Did I make a mistake by pre-ordering and waiting for EX90? How can I still have confidence in Volvo?

  1. You will get a boiler plate answer from PR because they can’t provide you any details that haven’t been provided publicly already. These kind of emails work if you are asking for a specific action that is reasonable like a refund, asking help with a dealer not honoring warranty etc.

    Volvo earlier stated that they will not build cars in order and customize each one (like Mercedes, Audi does). Instead they will build them in batches with certain configurations and deliver them to matching customers which will be unknown delays depending on your configuration.
