  1. i don’t understand people who are so picky like that. it just gives off a super entitled and gimmie gimmie vibe. I’m grateful to receive anything because someone else is taking their own time and money to send me something.

  2. Yeah, stuff like this takes the fun out of the community. I hate ‘thank you’ notes like this. Like postcrossing isn’t about collecting, it’s about the writing on the back.

  3. It’s people like this that make this hobby frustrating. I mean, if a person is wanting to just college postcards and stamps, they can go to a thrift store or look for some on the internet. If they didn’t want to connect with people, then they should not have joined the website.

  4. It sours my mood instantly to get those super picky profiles. Just zaps the joy right out of it. Especially the ones where I know no matter what I send they probably won’t like it and I’ll get a blank hooray message or just “thanks”.

I’ve gotten a lot of purist collectors recently too. They want no washi, no stickers, only single view cards, no postage labels, no sticker stamps (which are the only type you can buy new from USPS), no vintage cards, no illustrations, no ad cards, etc etc etc.

I even got one the other day that requested only new postcards and only sent unwritten in an envelope. Like it’s against the rules but it’s also against the spirit, and that’s what makes me roll my eyes the most. Just do the forum swaps if you need stuff that specific.

  5. While the Hurray was rude and I’m sorry you got such, I find the profile very ok and I like wish lists that help me choose the card. They even say “surprise me”.

Also I think it’s one of the most common dislikes to get a tourist card from a country where the sender doesn’t live.

aaannd…it’s German, who sometimes pride with their “honesty” but only end up sounding intentionally rude 😀
