as the title says, I’ve always been called qalbi jileec, or soft-hearted. I cry reading books, if I hear sad news, hear a good recitation, or if I see anything sad. I don’t carry myself like that, lakin. I’m afraid to get taken advantage of so I try so hard to make myself seem like I’m not easily affected by things.
Anyways, recently, I’ve found myself to be very sensitive to everything. My friends will make a joke and it’ll genuinely hurt my feelings. It’s nothing mean or crazy, it’s normal for us but recently, it hits different, you know? And my friends noticed to the point that they asked why I am so sensitive all of the sudden. Not only my friends, my family will mention something and it’ll stick with me, like genuinely make me sad. I won’t get defensive or anything like how I normally would be if my feelings are hurt lakin I feel myself internalising things.
I’ll try to avoid situations where there’s too much joking bc I’m afraid something will trigger me and make me sad. I’ve been through soo much worse and it feels silly to be so affected by such small things.
I’m a very confident person as well, Alhamdulillah so I’m confused why my feelings keep getting hurt. This definitely feels like the work of shaydan and I’ve made du’a but anyone have any advice on how not to take things personally?
Jazaka Allah khayr in advance <3

  1. I feel you sis. There’s a way to joke about things without hurting someone’s feelings. Joking about a persons appearance for example is never okay. I take things to heart as well, so I find myself being resentful to people who are insensitive just because I know I’d never say anything like that. Even if I hear someone talk about others in that way, it rubs me the wrong way.
