Chapter 1: Rise of a God
It all began before Minecraft: Legends, when a young entity named Zephyros was born the heavenly realm of the Aether, ruled by Notch, Jeb and Dinnerbone. He was different from the others, for while everyone wore angelic grey, white and gold, he had corruptive shades of black and purple. But nonetheless, he saw it as someone good. For when they say he’s different, he’ll say they’re all the same. This proved to be useful, as Zephyros ended up becoming one of the most powerful warriors in the Aether. However, he still wanted more.
When news spread about the creation of the Overworld, Zephyros became inspired by this and had ideas to make a new world. He called it, the End, a place where they would be at the top, for he saw all aetherians as the final evolution. When he revealed his plans during a meeting, the triumvirate saw some potential, but other groups had mixed opinions. One of these groups were the Trailblazers, who took it as a joke and laughed him out of the room. Wanting to prove that his ideas were good, Zephyros left the Aether and traveled to void above all.
Chapter 2: Beginning of the End
Once he arrived, Zephyros saw nothing but a waste dump. You see, before his arrival, the void above all was used as a place to store waste being generated by the Aether. Disgusted yet inspired, Zephyros used the waste to form floating islands. He then turned the minimum wage waste workers, as well as the homeless aetherians living in the dumps, into his high paying followers, naming them his Enderlings. They are led by the Heart of Ender, whom he assigned as the supreme guardian of the End. The Heart of Ender would later create the Orb of Dominance, which he sent to the nether to help the Piglins, and unknowingly kick start the events of Legends.
Zephyros then split his army into the following;
- Blastling – brutish, fiery enderlings that shoots purple projectiles at their victims.
- Snareling – yellow-eyed enderlings that flings snareling goop to trap and slow down whoever crosses them.
- The Swarm – the snareling's ancient variety.
- Watchling – thick-armed enderlings covered in purple eyes. They teleport behind their victims to surprise attack them.
- Watcher of the End is the watchling's ancient variety.
- Endersent – the main Enderling guardians and/or commanders.
But he also wanted animals to roam his new world, and plants to grow in it. So using of the Aether dragon carcasses at the dump, Zephyros created the first Ender Dragons, giving them black bodies and purple highlights. He also created the Chorus fruit out of rotten plants, to grow across the islands. When he finished his creation, Zephyros could rest watching his new realm. Until a disaster in the Overworld would bring an invasive species to his door, decades later.
Chapter 3: The Ender Kingdoms
After escaping from two monsters they brought in this world, the Ancient Builders, with the help of the Endersent, had arrived at the End to seek refuge. While Zephyros stayed in his palace, not wanting to interfere with mortals, the Heart of Ender welcomed them into their kingdom. They then got to work, building the elaborate tree-like end cities, with shulkers to act as guards. They also created the flying End Ships, powered by the End Crystals to travel around the islands. However, while all this was happening, the builders were unknowingly doing damage to the End.
The first problem came in the form of the Endermites, who evolved from the Sliverfish who entered through the entrance end portal. But the builders nor enderlings bothered to deal with it, since the endermites provided as a means of food for the Ender Dragons. Speaking of which, the second problem was involved the dragons.
During this period, the elytra had been invented, allowing people to fly across the End without ships. To make them however, you needed ender dragon wings, so dragons were not just being hunted for food and sport, but also for their wings. However, it was also solved with the help of the End Crystals being able to fertilize eggs and revive dead dragons. But it would also be the reason as to why Jean, the last Ender Dragon, is Minecraft’s final boss.
Chapter 4: Surpassing the Limits
It was around this point in time that the Builders wanted to return back to the Overworld, but realized that they couldn’t just build a nether portal in the End. However, they noticed that the dragons nest, made up of bedrock, look like an exit gateway. So they experimented with different techniques, until they built the End Crystal pillars, where they came to a conclusion; they needed a huge amount of energy to create a portal, and the only creature with that much energy was a dragon. So the enderlings brought over Jean, the last Ender Dragon at this point, to sacrifice her and open the portal.
But as the end crystals were put in place, Jean felt immense power, immediately becoming an immortal being. And what happened next? Before they could sacrifice her, Jean, who was at her limits after years of her home and kind being destroyed, attacked the builders. She was eventually killed and it allowed the portal to be opened, but the enderlings, who have also had enough, attacked in retaliation. Some of the builders fought off the enderlings, while the rest hopped through the portal before Dion, one of the scientists who made the End Crystals, closed the portal, bringing back Jean just in time.
With the remaining builders stuck in the End, they and enderlings made peace, and sent the other dragons and their eggs to the farthest end islands, living a forced exile. And as they continued to stay in the end, due to constant chorus fruit consumption, Dion and Ender Builders became what we know as the Endermen, losing their ability to pick up items.
Chapter 5: A New Age for the End
So now we approach the age of the players, where the End had taken some time to recover. Until the so-called “heroes” Steve and Alex defeated the ender dragon, that killed their people, and retired (temporarily). The Heart of Ender, filled with vengeance, saw the Illagers and their undead allies lose hope in each other, this gave him an idea to use them in his plans to have revenge on the Overworld.
As soon as Archie gained sight and grabbed the Orb of Dominance from its pedestal, the Heart of Ender immediately manipulated him, allowing Archie, now the Arch-Illager to form the Second Illager Empire. With his, he sent evil Ender Knights, led by Enderbrine, to the Overworld, capturing many small villages and towns with several surviving dragons and their new creations, Ender Golems. Reaching as far as the Kingdom of Galitor, before being pushed back to the End. Hence, the plot of the Minecraft Movie.
When the new Illager Empire collapsed and the heroes, Valorie, Hex, Hal, and Adriene were at the gates of Highblock Keep, the Heart of Ender fully corrupted Archie, and the final battle commenced. After several shots, swings and slices, the Heart of Ender was defeated, and Archie was freed from its control. But this wasn’t over for the Heart of Ender.
Chapter 6: The End… Again…
After several pieces of the Orb were spread across the world, they affecting the surrounding areas and making new creatures. Our heroes take them down, but after learning that the Heart of Ender survived and has reached its perfect form, somehow with the help of the endermen, they prepare for the last stages of war in the End.
After gaining eyes of Ender, the Dungeon Knights and their allies, including those from the nether with the help of command blocks stolen from Herobrine, had arrived at the End. They were joined by the Endermen and several surviving Ender Dragons. These dragons were indeed mad at the builders for destroying their home, but knew this wasn’t the right decision, and so the attack of the End began.
They went from island to island, capturing bases, ships and resources, and freeing any prisoners the enderlings took hold of, villager and illager alike. Once they arrived at the Heart’s city, they were met by heavy resistance. But our heroes managed to get through and after running into the big bad that’s been pulling all the strings, the true final fight began, ending with the Heart of Ender taken down.
Chapter 7: The New Ender Kingdoms
With the war finally over, many allies of the Dungeon Knights had decided to stay in the End. Why? Much like us, they had different reasons on staying. Most wanted to bring back the Ender Dragons, some had grown attached to the End’s magical properties, and others stayed to defend the End. But they all had one common reason for them staying; they wanted to fix the mistakes their ancestors had made all those years ago.
Chapter 8: Conclusion
And that’s the story of the End. It’s a barren world because our predecessors, the builders had destroyed everything in it. This is why the Endermen pick up specific blocks, they want to repair the damage they’ve caused. And even if the Overworld and End are at peace, let this be a reminder of what happens when you conquer a new land and take all what is in store.
Let me know if I missed anything. Because, in true MatPat style, this is just a theory. A GAME THEORY!
