In case you missed Sundayâs NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:
We have a rather silly puzzle for you today, though one without one clear theme. It also tripped me up a few times. See how you do for yourself. But first….
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.
Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, youâll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.
The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can’t quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer.
To help you avoid doing that, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers (spoilers lie ahead, of course):
NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers
ACROSS
1) Gift of ___ (ability to speak eloquently) – GAB
4) With 7-Across, total goofball – SILLY
6) Take as in oneâs own – ADOPT
7) See 4-Across – GOOSE
8) Street haunted by Freddy Krueger – ELM
DOWN
1) Rhyming partner of doom – GLOOM
2) Where Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn are – ALPS
3) Tiny, tiny part of a gig – BYTE
4) Wise-sounding herb – SAGE
5) Hero – IDOL
This one wasnât that bad for me. Two minutes is solid enough given my level of intelligence, which is not great. I certainly knew the Nightmare on ELM street one straight away. SILLY GOOSE threw me a bit as I have not heard anyone say that in about 15 years.
DOOM and GLOOM rhyming is appropriate given Marvel just announcing Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom, though I doubt thatâs why it was featured. I didnât get the Gig/BYTE one immediately, as I was thinking of like, a job. But I got there in the end.
