The Importance of Adjusting

As babies grow and develop, their needs and preferences change. The Baby Beluga wrap, which was once the ultimate solution for calming and soothing your little one, may no longer be as effective. In fact, using the wrong type of wrap or carrier can even be harmful for your baby’s development. That’s why it’s crucial to adapt and try new things as your baby outgrows the Baby Beluga wrap.

1. Soft-Tex Sling: A Soothing Alternative

For many parents, the Soft-Tex Sling is a game-changer. Made from a soft, breathable material, this sling provides gentle support and comfort for your baby. With multiple carrying positions, it’s perfect for babies of all ages and stages. Say goodbye to Baby Beluga woes and hello to the Soft-Tex Sling!

4. DIY Baby Wrap Options

Going DIY can be a fun and cost-effective way to try a new baby wrap. Check out online tutorials or YouTube videos for simple and effective DIY baby wrap ideas. You can create your own wraps using soft, breathable fabrics, like cotton or muslin.

5. Try Other Soothing Methods

Of course, it’s not just about wraps! Other soothing methods can work wonders for calming your baby. Have you tried the "5 S’s"? The "5 S’s" – Swaddling, Shushing, Side/stomach position, Swinging, and Sucking – are a tried-and-true approach to calming your little one.

6. Baby’s Development Stages

It’s essential to understand your baby’s development stages as they grow and outgrow the Baby Beluga wrap. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends considering your baby’s individual needs, developmental stage, and milestones when selecting a wrap or carrier.

Conclusion

Outgrowing the Baby Beluga wrap doesn’t have to be daunting. With these six simple and effective solutions, you’ll be well on your way to finding the perfect alternative. Remember, it’s all about adjusting to your baby’s changing needs and finding what works best for them.

Our LO is 12 weeks and really resisting naps as she becomes more alert and aware of the world. Our one saving grace has been the Baby Beluga wrap because we know we can rescue most naps by popping her in there and walking around/going about our business – she doesn’t care if it’s bright, loud, etc and will just snooze pretty much until we wake her!

She’s about 10lbs now and it’s starting to feel like we could use a little more support. I’m confident that I have her hips and back in an ergonomic position but her news tends to sort of sink backwards when she’s tucked in.

We have the Baby Bjorn mini and the Ergobaby Omni 360 and she hates them both…screams bloody murder if we try to carry her in those.

Is there a more supportive wrap carrier or some sort of in between I should explore? I’m located in Ontario, Canada for what it’s worth.

  1. There is a more supportive type of wrap – a woven wrap. I switched from stretchy wrap to woven wrap when my baby was between 2 and 3 months and it was great. He’s 3 now and I still use a woven wrap sometimes.

Other really supportive wrap like carriers include meh dai and half buckle styles.

  2. If you and baby like stretchy wraps, the next step up would definitely be ~~woolen~~ woven wraps. They have a little bit of a learning curve but since you’re coming from stretchy wraps it shouldn’t take too long to get the hang of. Woven wraps are so much more supportive and versatile.
