Riots Erupt in UK Cities as Far-Right Demonstrations Turn Violent

LONDON, ENGLAND – A day of planned protests by far-right groups in the UK turned deadly on Saturday, as more than 90 people were arrested and several police officers injured in clashes with rioters in multiple towns and cities.

According to eyewitnesses, the chaos began in the afternoon when hundreds of demonstrators, many of whom were clad in white supremacist symbols and neo-Nazi insignia, gathered in central London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Leeds to protest against immigration and law enforcement.

As the crowds swelled, tensions escalated, with reports of violence and vandalism breaking out in several locations. Rioters hurled rocks, bottles, and other objects at police, who responded with tear gas and batons in an effort to disperse the crowds.

By the end of the day, 92 people had been arrested and taken into custody, with many more expected to face charges in the coming days. Several police officers were treated for injuries sustained during the clashes.

"This was a day of utter chaos and violence, and we will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our communities," said London Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Cressida Dick. "We will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice and ensure the safety of our citizens."

The far-right groups involved in the protests, which included the English Defence League and the British National Party, claimed that the demonstrations were peaceful and targeted by police brutality. However, eyewitnesses and video footage from the scene contradict this narrative, showing widespread violence and disorder.

The UK government has condemned the violence and vowed to take action to combat the growing threat of far-right extremism. "We will not stand idly by while hate groups seek to destabilize our communities and undermine our values of tolerance and respect," said Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
