ROCKIES MAKE ROSTER MOVES, KRIS BRYANT RETURNS TO IL

The Colorado Rockies have made a series of roster moves, including a significant one that will have a major impact on their lineup: Kris Bryant has been placed on the 10-day injured list.

According to the team’s official statement, Bryant is dealing with a minor knee sprain that will keep him sidelined for at least the next 10 days. The news comes as a surprise to fans, who had been eagerly awaiting Bryant’s return to form after a slow start to the season.

Bryant has been a key player for the Rockies, hitting.265 with 13 home runs and 32 RBIs this season. His absence will likely see a combination of Ryan McMahon and Alan Trejo take on a larger role in the lineup.

But that’s not all – the Rockies also announced that they have recalled infielder Elehuris Montero from Triple-A Albuquerque, where he was hitting.325 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs. Montero has been on a tear all season, and his promotion to the majors is a well-deserved one.

In other roster moves, the Rockies have also optioned right-handed pitcher Jose Mujica to Triple-A, and have designated left-handed pitcher Héctor Rondón for assignment.

The news comes as the Rockies look to climb back into contention in the NL West, where they currently sit 5.5 games behind the first-place San Francisco Giants. The team will look to Montero to help fill the void left by Bryant’s injury, and to Mujica and Rondón to provide some much-needed depth in the bullpen.

Stop me if you've heard this one before…. Good news is Jordan Beck is back up and taking his spot.

PR added this quote from Bryant: “My facet joints are a little — not a little — they are pretty severely arthritic, and (there are) a lot of bone spurs and stuff like that. It’s just part of getting older. That’s the way the doctor explained it to me. So I just have to find a way to manage it as best I can.”

  1. Severe arthritis in your thirties isn’t just “part of getting older”; it’s damage. And I’m sorry to hear it. He might be older for a baseball player, but off the field he’s still a relatively young man. He’s got a lot of years left; maybe it’s time he considers hanging ‘em up for his long-term quality of life.

  2. It makes perfect sense.

An owner, with a ton of cash, who thinks he’s got a clue, and actually has good intentions…ignores technology.

Kris is the worst signing ever, certainly by the Rockies, but you’ll have to go back to pitchers from the 80s who were phenoms…and then played in like 17 games over 3 years, and that was it, to get this bad.

The Rockies could actually be great, but they need to bring in some Nasa/Airforce guys, who only care about altitude, speed, and…you know physics, to teach pitchers how to do it at high altitude.

I think the Rocks are good on hitting at high altitude : )

    Even the bad ones.
