President Museveni’s Longtime Spokesperson Tamale Mirundi Dies at 59
KAMPALA, UGANDA – With deep sadness, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has announced the passing of his long-time spokesperson, Tamale Mirundi, at the age of 59.
Mirundi, who was also a well-known television talk show host and media personality, succumbed to illness at a city hospital, sources close to the President’s office confirmed.
According to eyewitnesses, Mirundi had been admitted to hospital a few days ago and was undergoing treatment, but his condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to his untimely death.
"We are devastated by this news," said a spokesperson for President Museveni’s office. "Tamale was more than just a spokesperson to us, he was a member of our family. He served our country with dedication and integrity, and we will always cherish his memories."
Born on December 18, 1962, Mirundi was a respected journalist and communications expert, having worked as the Presidential Press Secretary from 1995 to 2003. He also hosted several television shows, including the popular "The Tamale Mirundi Show" on Salt FM, a local private television station.
Throughout his career, Mirundi was known for his wit, humor, and forthright commentary on political and social issues in Uganda. He was widely respected by his colleagues and admirers alike for his exceptional communication skills, and his ability to tackle tough subjects with candor and clarity.
