Hi All,
I have a 2011 Smart fortwo Passion with about 97,000 miles on it. It's my commuter car, and as the years roll by, I can't find anyone who wants to work on them. It's usually due to how little room there is and the availability of parts. The good news is that it passed inspection in June, but the bad news is that my dash looks like a Christmas tree. Check engine light is on, along with the tire pressure, ABS and Brake lights. I've already had the coils replaced, the brake light switch fixed, and I did the brakes myself. It also needs a condenser, so this summer has been quite sweat-ventful. I know the ABS light has something to do with axle bearings or boots. The check engine codes are numerous and seem to indicate a misfire.
All indications point to the fact that I should consider moving on and finding another car, but I really love this one. It's fun to drive and so easy to park. Plus, as a big guy, the looks I get when I hop out of it are priceless. I live south of Boston, and taking it back to the dealership proved to be a costly mistake; they charged me $750 just to change the battery before even starting diagnostics.
I'm searching for someone in the area who is willing to work on it and get her back to a usable condition. Does anyone know a reliable mechanic who enjoys working on Smart cars?
Thanks,
