Israeli Settlers Torch West Bank Village, Leaving Trail of Destruction

According to eyewitnesses, a group of Israeli settlers, believed to be from the nearby settlement of Yitzhar, entered the village of Burin in the early hours of the morning and set fire to several homes and buildings.
The village, which is located in the Nablus governorate, is home to over 1,000 Palestinians, many of whom have been displaced and left homeless as a result of the attack.
"I woke up to the sound of explosions and screams," said Amal Abu Hashem, a resident of Burin. "I looked out the window and saw flames engulfing our neighbor’s house. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing."
The Israeli military has been criticized for its failure to prevent the attack, with many accusing them of allowing the settlers to carry out the violence with impunity.
"This is a clear example of the Israeli government’s complicity in the violence and human rights abuses being perpetrated against the Palestinian people," said Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority.
The United Nations has also condemned the attack, calling it a "grave violation of international humanitarian law."
"We urge the Israeli government to take immediate action to protect the Palestinian people and to hold those responsible for this attack accountable," said a spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The attack is the latest in a long series of incidents of violence and intimidation carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank.
