Breaking News: Clementine Lives Review Slams LucasArts’ Missed Opportunity in Epic Adventure

In a stunning exposé, gaming critics are unanimously panning Clementine Lives, the latest installment in the beloved Clementine series, citing a missed opportunity for the LucasArts developers. I only just beat Walking Dead Final Season this month, and when I went reading about it online I found the awful premise of Clementine Lives (abandoning AJ because she's unhappy for no apparent reason, just so they could focus on original characters).

Maybe someone else came up with this before, but if I'd been told to write a Clementine spinoff, I'd focus it on getting closure on Telltale's unresolved character plots. What one thing, or person, would get Clem to leave her happy life behind and risk her life walking around with one leg? News about Christa.

Clem and preteen AJ are fishing or hunting walkers around Erikson or whatever, and a bit survivor comes running in, bringing a small herd behind. They look all badass taking them out, and then as they tend to the dying person, he says he's from Vermont (where the spinoff happens) and volunteered to go hunting to hunt down rumors about some missing girl in Virginia because everyone up there is about to die anyway. And he laughs at himself because now he's dying here.

Then he hears AJ call Clementine by her name and gasps, and pulls out a bloody sketch of Clem's S2 face and hat. He says he never expected to actually find her, and then dies before he can say more. AJ also finds a map in his pocket of where he came from.

Then we cut to the scene from the comic where AJ catches Clem sneaking away. He feels betrayed and says they promised to always stick together, but she explains that the only person up north who'd possibly know who she is, and would still be looking for her, is Christa. And that as long as AJ is safe, Clem can't stay here until she knows if she can save Christa from whatever is happening up there. She promises to come back, they hug, AJ gives her the broccoli toy to remember home by, and off she goes.

It admittedly feels a bit contrived, but that's the only reason I'd want to keep reading stories about Clem, that Christa is protecting the new characters in the group up north and Clem is drawn into things to help her (and still feels guilty about Omid). Anything else would involve killing off Erickson characters or screwing up her character. I thought about Clem going off to hunt down a rumor about Arvo and Mike, but that didn't feel as interesting because I don't see her leaving AJ behind for revenge.
