TL;DR: My cross-posting content across socials yield surprising results. Reddit was the clear winner (esp. if you have a limited reach like me ), LinkedIn also performed well, while other platforms had mixed results. Takeaway : tailor the message/tone to each platform for best engagement. Really makes a difference.

A few weeks ago, I conducted a cross-platform experiment by sharing Mentio, -auto-reply AI agents for social medias- across 6 SM platforms. The results were cool  and show me the importance of strategic content distribution. Here's    my lessons:

Platforms and Results:

  1. Reddit: The clear winner with over 38,000 views across 5 posts (same reposts). More importantly, it generated multiple clients. Reddit's community engagement and niche subreddits proved invaluable for reaching our target audience.
  2. LinkedIn: About 550 views. While the numbers seem modest, LinkedIn's impression calculation appears more accurate. The nature of the platform aligned well with our B2B offering, resulting in quality leads. 
  3. X (Twitter): Only about 300 views. Despite its reputation to easily go viral with low effort posts, X’s algorithm is works like a gamble, how much you play you have higher chance of winning gold. Should focus on the volume rather than quality. 
  4. ProductHunt: A quiet reception with just 3 upvotes and no comments. Wasteland for now, needs time to grow/optimize their “discussion” page
  5. Hacker News: 7 comments but no impression data. While the engagement was low, my expectations weren’t very high neither. Also got some traffic but don’t know if they turn to conversions. The post was very low effort too.
  6. Instagram : 54 likes and close to1.000 impressions. (Got a relatively bigger IG audience so not really fair)

So my takeaways from the experience:

  1. Tailor your message: Adapt your content to fit each platform's style and audience.
  2. Know your audience: Platforms like LinkedIn and Reddit tend to engage more with in-depth content. DMs, replies, subscriptions etc.
  3. Smart content reuse: Repurposing content can save time while still attracting attention.
  4. Experiment widely, but focus my energy where my message resonates most.

Have anymore platform rec. to promote B2B SaaS/AI. Would love to add them to my next experiment.
