BREAKING NEWS

Fans of FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed action-adventure game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, may be thrilled to hear that there’s a possibility of a sequel in the works.

In an exclusive interview with IGN, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the president of FromSoftware and director of Sekiro, expressed his interest in revisiting the game’s world and characters. When asked about the possibility of a sequel, Miyazaki-san stated:

"While Sekiro is a standalone game, I think there’s still a lot of room to explore the world and its characters. We’ve received a lot of feedback from players, and we’re considering what kind of story we could tell next. It’s still early days, but I think there’s definitely a possibility for a sequel."

Miyazaki-san also hinted that any potential sequel would likely build upon the gameplay mechanics and world design that fans loved in the original game.

This news comes as a surprise to many fans, as FromSoftware has been focused on other projects, including the upcoming Elden Ring and the rumored Dark Souls remaster. However, it seems that the studio is open to revisiting the world of Sekiro in the future.

What does this mean for fans?

A potential sequel could mean a return to the world of feudal Japan, with new challenges, characters, and storylines to explore. Fans are eagerly awaiting any news about a potential sequel, and it’s likely that FromSoftware will provide more information in the coming months.

The problem with NOT doing Sekiro 2 is that FromSoftware is not only making Sekiro a single-lonely game, but the Sekiro formula as well. Seems like no FromSoftware game is the same, neither is any other game, so not doing a second part is not only saying goodbye to Sekiro, but the unique mechanics they come up with. I am currently facing Ishin with his son Genishiro. Cannot make it past his third fase yet, but just thinking that the game is kind of over after this is depressing, lol. I know there is still another 3 endings and plenty of challenge specially after finishing the game, but damn! I will give a lot just to have a second part, or at least an spiritual succesor. Am not very aware of videogames news. Does any of you know if FromSoftware have said something about Sekiro 2?

  1. I’ve put so many hours into this game, gauntlets, charmless runs, using all the prosthetics – I think it’s wrong to be sad when such a beautiful and fun game DOES exist in a complete state.

I think the deflection mechanics will make a comeback in some form, just look at the deflecting hardtear in Elden ring! I’m ok if it is attached to a different game

  2. Fromsoft said they’d like to take Sekiro and Bloodeborne combat and turn it up a notch. I assume it’s for their next IP or the one after. Sekiro’s entire combat system is based around a visual stamina bar and rhythmic parrying, so we can almost guarantee they’d utilize it.
