Hey everyone! We just downsized from a truck to an SUV so now I need a bike rack. I was eyeing the velocirax 4, or 5x which seems like the gold standard for the vertical racks. Doing some research I see Thule is coming out with a new one right away called the ReVert that looks real nice which I'll link.

Have you checked out North Shore Racks?
North shore racks.
Someone posted a very similar thread a few days ago and here’s what I wrote then:
also the north shore racks contact your frame/fork, which crossed them off my list.
*I have a velocirax-5 bike. It’s awesome. Definitely the best rack I’ve owned.*
*Looking at the Thule the things I don’t like include the following. Still would have purchased the velocirax had the Thule existed last year.*
* *tool free tightening to hitch. I’ve had these and do not like them. Much prefer the 17mm socket the velocirax uses. Simple and reliable; I’ve found hand-tighten ones are harder to tighten, don’t hold as well, and aren’t fun when cold or when they get crud in them (have had 2)*
* *velocirax has 2 struts. Not sure if it really matters but seems like less stress than would be placed on a single strut.*
* *velocirax has a garage mount (don’t have a garage so no experience) but seems like would be nice in the winter.*
* *kinda don’t like the looks of the long lever to release, looks like something that will break but who knows.*
* *velocirax doesn’t need an adapter for 24in wheels.*
* *my 5 bike velocirax was cheaper than 4 bike Thule.*
* *I like the red on the velocirax.*
