Tiruchendurai vs WAQF Board: Village Ownership Dispute Rocks India

In a shocking turn of events, the villagers of Tiruchendurai, a small village in Tamil Nadu, India, are at loggerheads with the Waqf Board over the ownership of the entire village. The Waqf Board, responsible for managing Islamic endowments, has claimed that the village belongs to them, leaving the residents stunned and demanding answers.

According to sources, the Waqf Board has been attempting to take control of the village, citing ancient documents and historical records that allegedly prove their ownership. However, the villagers are adamant that they have lived in the village for generations and have never been aware of any such claims.

"This is a clear case of land grabbing," said S. Raja, a resident of Tiruchendurai. "We have lived here for centuries, and our ancestors have been farming this land. We will not let anyone take it away from us."

The dispute has sparked widespread outrage and concern among the local community, with many calling for an investigation into the matter. "This is a blatant attempt to dispossess the villagers of their rightful property," said M. Suresh, a local activist. "We demand that the government intervenes and ensures that the villagers’ rights are protected."

The Tiruchendurai village has a population of around 5,000 people, mostly Hindus and Muslims. The villagers have been peacefully coexisting for generations, and the sudden claim by the Waqf Board has created tension and uncertainty in the community.

"We are not against the Waqf Board or any other organization," said Raja. "But we will not tolerate anyone trying to take away our land. We will fight for our rights until the end."

The government has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the matter and ensure that the villagers’ rights are protected. "We take the concerns of the villagers seriously and will take necessary steps to resolve the issue," said a government spokesperson.
