My first experience with the patch was getting out of bed and interacting with the new item bank or whatever they're calling it now. I know it's been mentioned, but having my camera instantly inside the wall still made me chuckle.
My traversal to my hangar was painfully stuttery, missed the tram, but got vacuumed into it, nothing unusual. Thought the ASOP terminal looked odd with these red stripes I haven't seen before. It was also missing a few ships, but that's whatever.
I thought about how it will be once we're able to swap all components on ships physically, if we're still going to get access to the ship loadout manager or not. But as it's still there I used it to swap my quantum drive for my Vulture, called it up and took off to do my first hauling mission. 9x1SCU from Everus to a DC.
The freight elevator and personal hangar experience was good. It worked as expected and it's nice to manually load a ship. As others also have mentioned, scrolling the mouse wheel probably isn't sustainable long term and I'd prefer keybinds for pushing and pulling.
Doing the hauling mission unlocked new ones and I gotta say, just a list of 31 missions like this is really off putting, I didn't even bother to look at any of them and instead called it right there. I've been playing the new World of Warcraft expansion these past few days and the contracts manager in SC is really jarring.
I actually like the idea of not having all missions in the mobi glass app and instead have some only available at the location you are currently visiting. So if you arrive at a distribution center, they could have certain limited/dynamic missions available to you. The reason to go there could just be because you like the location, to farm rep with the owners, maybe a friend or someone on the server gave you a tip, or you had another mission take you there as an end point.
I realise typing this I'm basically describing the "theme park" experience that everyone here seems to hate. Game dev must be hard.
Between wanting to play the latest league in PoE, Wukong and more of War Within, I don't see myself playing this patch much. I'll probably check out Blockade Runner. What about you all? You excited to play, to do hauling or are you more so just waiting for more news at CitCon, 4.0, 1.0 or SQ42? I'm personally mostly waiting for SQ42 at this point.
