In a stunning revelation, a recent study has exposed the truth about the so-called "unhealthy" foods that are secretly wreaking havoc on our bodies. From sugary snacks to processed meats, the list of culprits is longer than you think.

The Culprits:

  1. Fried Foods: Think crispy fries, fried chicken, and doughnuts. These tasty treats are high in calories, fat, and sodium, making them a recipe for disaster.
  2. Processed Meats: Bacon, sausages, and hot dogs may taste good, but they’re loaded with preservatives, sodium, and saturated fat.
  3. Sugary Snacks: Cookies, cakes, and candies may satisfy your sweet tooth, but they’re packed with added sugars, refined carbs, and artificial flavors.
  4. High-Fat Dairy: Creamy cheeses, whole milk, and full-fat yogurt may be delicious, but they’re high in saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories.
  5. Refined Carbs: White bread, pasta, and sugary cereals may be convenient, but they’re low in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and high in empty calories.

The Risks:

Consuming these "unhealthy" foods regularly can lead to a host of health problems, including:

  • Weight Gain: Consuming high-calorie, high-fat foods can lead to weight gain and obesity.
  • Increased Risk of Chronic Diseases: Processed and fried foods have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.
  • Digestive Issues: Refined carbs and high-fat dairy can cause bloating, gas, and digestive discomfort.
  • Nutrient Deficiencies: A diet heavy in processed and fried foods can lead to nutrient deficiencies, including vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

The Verdict:

It’s time to face the music – our favorite snacks are not as innocent as we thought. The good news is that there are plenty of healthier alternatives available. By making informed choices and limiting our intake of "unhealthy" foods, we can take control of our health and wellbeing.

Take Action:

  1. Read Labels: Check the ingredient list and nutrition facts to make informed choices.
  2. Choose Whole Foods: Opt for whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.
  3. Cook at Home: Cooking at home allows you to control the ingredients and portion sizes.
  4. Limit Processed Foods: Try to limit your intake of processed and fried foods to special occasions.

Obviously no food is inherently unhealthy in moderation. But you hear of things that are known to be detrimental (especially in magazines and the news). Cheese for example, too much is unhealthy… so on etc.

Why is it when I eat cheese (I go through 2/3 month phases) in large amount, like half a bag of grated cheese a day, I lose weight. Also, still eating regular meals.

I genuinely went from about 60kg to 52kg whilst in this period, since I’ve been able to keep it off without any dieting. My cholesterol, bp everything like that is completely normal.

I also have IBS so not sure if that factors in. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing haha?

  1. If you are lactose intolerant, then eating a lot of cheese (or other dairy) in a sitting can cause weight loss through extra bowel movements. Try cutting out dairy for a bit to see if symptoms go away.

  2. It is because it is low carb and high fat. This is the basis of the ketogenic diet.

Basically if you just eat cheese on its own, you arent having carbohydrates clog up your cells, so the cheese fat gets used as energy. This trains your body to burn fat for energy, so when the cheese is run out it can then use your body fat more easily.
