Get ready to celebrate the launch of your new book! Book launch day is a momentous occasion, and we’ve got the scoop on the top 5 things to do to make it a memorable one.
1. Create a Buzz on Social Media
As the big day approaches, start building anticipation by sharing behind-the-scenes content, sneak peeks, and teasers on your social media channels. Use relevant hashtags like #BookLaunch, #NewRelease, #BookLovers, and #AuthorLife to reach a wider audience.
2. Host a Virtual Book Launch Party
Gather your friends, family, and fellow book lovers for an online celebration! Use platforms like Zoom, Facebook Live, or YouTube Live to host a virtual book launch party. Share your excitement, read excerpts, and answer questions from your guests.
3. Partner with Book Bloggers and Reviewers
Reach out to book bloggers and reviewers in your genre and ask if they’d like to receive an advance review copy (ARC) of your book. This can generate buzz and help you build a community of enthusiastic readers.
4. Plan a Special Launch Event
Organize a special event, like a book signing, reading, or Q&A session, at a local bookstore, library, or literary festival. Make it a memorable experience by offering giveaways, discounts, or exclusive merchandise.
5. Share Your Excitement with Your Mailing List
Send a special email to your subscribers with a personalized message, exclusive content, or a free bonus chapter to get them excited about your book launch. Use email marketing tools like Mailchimp or ConvertKit to create eye-catching campaigns.
Breaking News Bonus Tip:
- Don’t forget to track your book’s Amazon sales rankings and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Analyze your data to identify what’s working and what needs improvement.

Get ready to celebrate your book launch day with these 5 best things to do! From social media buzz to virtual book parties, learn how to make your book launch a memorable one.
Hey everyone! I've got my fourth published book releasing today so I thought I'd share the things that are most helpful to promote your book on release day.
- Social Media Blast: Do a photo shoot with your book before release day so that you're ready to blast across whatever social media you use. Get it nicely edited, if you can, and if you're up for it, show your face. That actually gets more engagement than just a picture of your cover.
- Newsletter Post: While social media is fine and good, it's not in our control. So I always find it most helpful to focus most on building up a newsletter list and getting directly to people's inboxes. Then on release day, send out a thoughtfully written post announcing that the book is now available.
- Offer a freebee. Free things get people's attention, and for us writers, that can be a sneak preview of the first page or first chapter. Here's an example of what that might look like.
- Tag in your Digital Surrogates: A lot of writers feel like they have to build a platform all by themselves, from the ground up, but tis not so. If you've got friends with decent instagram followings, local news reporters, YouTubers, book reviewers, etc, don't be afraid to ASK. I'm not talking being smarmy or anything, but if your friends have a platform, why not enlist their help and use it? Here's a great post by publicist Kathleen Schmidt about who digital surrogates are and how to use their help.
- The Pre-pub Stuff: On launch day, hopefully some of the work you've put in beforehand will be helpful. Outside of building a social media presence and an email list, I'm talking about pitching articles relevant to publications and topics of your book, or reaching out to reviewers and podcasters. If you've been able to get a few articles published in various places or guested on a few podcast episodes, get them to boost your article/episode on launch day too.
- Celebrate! You did a hard thing and you deserve to be proud and enjoy the day, whatever happens!
