So I got an update from the Central Bank of UAE in the morning today. At 09:23 AM, I received a call from their office in Abu Dhabi backing the claims of the bank. The representative further said that my phone number was used on the Etisalat website to make some sort of AED 50 payment on the 5th of June. This was news to me, the bank took almost 3 months to carry out their "investigation" and never once told me that there was some suspicious activity that took place 2 days before the main fraudulent transactions. I checked my SMS logs and confirmed that I had not received a single message from any source that day, not even a single one.

I told all of this to the representative, and he said something along the lines of, "I understand that, but the OTP was sent to your registered number, and the bank has even provided us with proof of this." I made a mistake by not remembering to ask exactly what the proof was or whether I could see it myself.

I told him that it was not a coincidence that so many fraud cases are occurring nowadays, especially involving their bank. I suggested that it might be due to a data breach they are trying to keep private to avoid a barrage of lawsuits. I kid you not, his response was, "I understand that there are many scams and fraud cases that consumers experience. But if the bank were to refund money to each consumer whenever it was deemed right, the bank would lose millions. And if the bank had to choose between losing their money or losing yours, they would never risk losing their own. The bank simply does not want to take responsibility for your case."

What am I even supposed to respond to that?
