Possible Black Micro-Stutter Fix for PC Players on Windows 10/11 – A Glimmer of Hope for Frustrated Gamers

Update: We’ve received reports from multiple sources that a possible fix for the notorious Black Micro-Stutter issue on PC has been discovered. Before we dive into the details, please note that this is still a developing story, and we’ll do our best to provide more information as it becomes available.

What is Black Micro-Stutter?

For those who may not be familiar, Black Micro-Stutter is a frustrating phenomenon that affects some PC players of the popular game Black, causing the game to stutter and pause for short periods, often resulting in a choppy and unresponsive gaming experience.

The Possible Fix:

According to reports, a user on the game’s official forum has discovered a potential fix for the issue. By making a few simple tweaks to the game’s configuration files, some players have reported a significant reduction in the frequency and severity of the stuttering.

How to Apply the Fix:

To try this fix, follow these steps:

  1. Open the game’s configuration file: You can do this by navigating to the game’s installation directory and finding the "config" folder.
  2. Edit the "game.cfg" file: Use a text editor to open the "game.cfg" file and look for the following lines:
    [Graphics]
    render_distance = 4000
    render_distance_multiplier = 1
  3. Adjust the render distance: Change the "render_distance" value to 8000 and the "render_distance_multiplier" value to 0.5.
  4. Save the changes: Save the modified "game.cfg" file and restart the game.

Caveats and Limitations:

Please note that this fix is still in its experimental stages, and results may vary. Additionally, this fix may not work for everyone, and some players may still experience stuttering issues.

Conclusion:

While we’re cautiously optimistic about the potential fix, we’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. We urge all affected players to try the fix and share their experiences in the comments below.

So this is an issue that was I dealing with in MW3, but I figure it's just normal because Activision and Microsoft are small companies with no budget. Every once in a while there's micro stutter and you just live with it on PC. However with the Black Micro-Stutter Ops 6 Beta, it's really out of control, at least on my same PC. (7800X3D, 64GB DDR5, RTX 4070, SSD install, FTTH internet).

Now this is not a recommendation as I'm not an absolute computer networking nerd but the good news is this possible fix can be reversed anyway. So here goes:

Download SG TCP Optimizer.

Open as Administrator (so the settings actually take hold)

Make sure you're selecting your network adapter (so if you have Wifi and an Ethernet card/port, select the right network adapter) it probably doesn't matter but do it anyway.

Click Optimal, then Click Custom

And the part that really helps is disabling Nagle's Algorithm:

Advanced Tab: Gaming Tweak – Disable Nagle's Algorithm

Apply changes, don't need to reboot, but do it anyway because you got a fast computer eh?

Play the game, if no improvement, do the same thing again but click on Windows Default, apply changes and reboot. (you'll be back to square one but no harm no foul).

One other neat thing I noticed with this applied, I haven't seen a single occurrence of packet bursting since.

But again, this is by no means an official fix. It worked for me, might not work for you. But as far as I can tell you can reverse it.
