"We’re not just talking about a legacy in terms of infrastructure, but also a legacy in terms of human rights, equality, and inclusion," said Marie-José Pérec, the President of the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 Organising Committee.

With over 4,400 athletes participating from 196 countries, the Paralympics have set a new bar for accessibility and inclusivity. The Games have inspired a new generation of youth with disabilities to take up sports and strive for their dreams.

One of the most significant legacies will be the expansion of existing infrastructure and the creation of new facilities to cater to the needs of athletes with disabilities. This includes adapted sports venues, accessible transport systems, and barrier-free public spaces.

"We need to make sure that the infrastructure we build today is designed with accessibility in mind. It’s not just a matter of throwing up walls and ramps, but really thinking about the needs of people with disabilities," emphasized Pérec.

The Paris Paralympics have also highlighted the importance of inclusive education, employment, and social integration. Through various initiatives and programs, the Games have promoted diversity, equity, and equality, sending a powerful message to the world.

However, there is still work to be done. Access to sports facilities, transport, and healthcare remains a significant challenge for many people with disabilities worldwide. The Paralympic legacy has the potential to inspire tangible change, but it is crucial to continue advocating for the rights and needs of this community.
