New Investigation Reveals Mysterious Origins of Sinking of the Titanic’s Death Toll Estimate
LONDON, ENGLAND – MARCH 2023
In a shocking turn of events, a new investigation has uncovered the origins of the 866-868 death toll estimate for the sinking of the RMS Titanic, a figure that has been widely reported in newspapers and historical accounts for over a century. According to the investigation, the true number of survivors is significantly higher than previously thought, with estimates suggesting that around 700 people survived the disaster.
The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. The tragedy resulted in the loss of over 1,500 lives, making it one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history. However, a new investigation by a team of historians and researchers has shed light on the mysterious origins of the 866-868 death toll estimate.
According to the investigation, the figure was likely derived from a combination of incorrect information, exaggerated reports, and a lack of accurate records. The researchers found that many of the reports of the Titanic’s sinking were based on hearsay, rumors, and unverified accounts, which were then perpetuated by newspapers and other media outlets.

The researchers also discovered that many of the records of the Titanic’s passengers and crew were incomplete, inaccurate, or missing, making it difficult to determine the exact number of survivors. The investigation found that many of the survivors were not accounted for in the official records, and that some passengers and crew members were listed as missing or dead when they were actually alive.

Keep in mind this was a day after it sank, they still hadn’t got full numbers yet, plus the bodies in the water wouldn’t have been identified/picked up yet. Newspapers were prone to suspecting numbers back then such as they are now.
