Breaking News: 4 Jaish-e-Mohammed Terrorists Trapped After Gunfight with Security in Udhampur
Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir: In a significant development, a gunfight between security forces and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists has left four militants trapped in a house in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the encounter began around 2:30 am when a joint team of the police, army, and CRPF launched a search operation in the Jhari area of Udhampur. The operation was based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
The terrorists, who have been identified as belonging to the JeM outfit, are said to be holed up in a house in the Jhari area. The security forces have surrounded the house and are engaging the militants in a fierce gunbattle.
"Four terrorists are trapped in the house and we are doing our best to neutralize them," said a police officer involved in the operation. "The area has been cordoned off and we are ensuring that no civilian is harmed during the operation."
The identity of the trapped terrorists is not yet known, but officials said they are believed to be from Pakistan.
This is the second major gunfight in the region in the past week. On Tuesday, a similar operation was conducted in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district, in which two terrorists were killed and one was arrested.
The security forces have been on high alert in Jammu and Kashmir following a series of terrorist attacks in the region. The region has been witnessing increased militancy in recent months, with several terrorist attacks and encounters taking place in various parts of the state.
