"What Would Happen If We Didn’t Intercept Russian Jets That Crossed into Our Airspace?"

Russian Jets Cross into US Airspace, Pentagon Warns of Grave Consequences

In a shocking incident, Russian fighter jets were spotted crossing into US airspace earlier today, sparking widespread concerns about the potential consequences if they were not intercepted.

According to sources, the Russian jets, believed to be Su-35 fighter jets, entered US airspace over the Bering Sea, prompting the Pentagon to scramble F-16s to intercept them. However, if the US had not responded, experts warn of catastrophic consequences.

The Consequences of No Interception

Experts fear that if the US had not intercepted the Russian jets, it could have led to a chain reaction of events that could have catastrophic consequences for global security.

"Allowing Russian jets to freely cross into US airspace without any response would send a clear message to Russia and other nations that we are not willing to defend our airspace," said John Bolton, former US National Security Adviser. "This would embolden rogue nations and undermine the credibility of the US military."

Escalation and Retaliation

Experts warn that if the US had not responded, Russia could have escalated the situation by sending more jets into US airspace, leading to a potential dogfight or even a military conflict.

"If the US had not intercepted the Russian jets, Russia could have retaliated by targeting US military assets or even civilian infrastructure," said Dr. Stephen Sestanovich, an expert on Russian affairs at Columbia University. "This could have led to a full-blown conflict between the two nations, with unpredictable consequences for global security."

Global Repercussions

The potential consequences of not intercepting the Russian jets do not stop at the US-Russia border. Experts warn that it could have global implications, including:

  • Destabilization of global markets: A conflict between the US and Russia could lead to a significant increase in oil prices, destabilizing global markets and affecting economic stability.
  • Erosion of international order: Allowing a rogue nation to disregard international boundaries could undermine the very fabric of international relations and the global order.
  • Increase in regional tensions: A US-Russia conflict could embolden other nations, leading to increased tensions and conflicts in regions such as the Middle East and Europe.

The Bottom Line

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining a robust military presence and the need for swift and decisive action in the face of threats to national security.

"Today’s incident highlights the importance of the US military’s ability to defend its airspace and interests," said General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the American people."

There's always news stories about foreign planes being intercepted miles off the coast. Usually it's Russian planes around Alaska.

Apparently it's fairly common. They approach, we react and they turn around and fly home. I've heard it's about testing our response times, seeing where we fly in from etc.

But what would happen if we didn't respond at all. Would they just keep going or just turn around anyways? Could we shoot them down for flying over top American soil?

  1. My middle son was an F-111 pilot during the early 1990’s, I know that was a while ago but he told me that the Russian pilots abd the American pilots enter each other’s airspace often and that it is generally more of a pilot thing rather than an invade and attack kind of thing.
