Breaking News: BMAH’s Purpose in Question – Is the Black Market Auction House Still Relevant?
In a shocking turn of events, the World of Warcraft community is left wondering: what’s the point of the BMAH anymore? The Black Market Auction House, once a staple of the game’s economy, has seen its popularity decline significantly in recent months.
Rise of Alternative Marketplaces
The emergence of alternative marketplaces, such as the in-game trading post and third-party add-ons, has reduced the BMAH’s importance. Players can now easily buy and sell items without having to navigate the often-cluttered and frustrating BMAH interface.
Changes to Itemization and Pricing
Recent changes to itemization and pricing have also contributed to the BMAH’s decline. The introduction of new items and the fluctuation of prices have made it difficult for players to predict what will sell and at what price. This uncertainty has led many players to abandon the BMAH in favor of more reliable marketplaces.
Community Reaction
The community is divided on the future of the BMAH. Some players argue that it’s still a necessary part of the game, providing a way for players to buy and sell items quickly and easily. Others believe that it’s a relic of the past and that alternative marketplaces are the way forward.
What’s Next for the BMAH?
As the debate rages on, it’s unclear what the future holds for the BMAH. Will Blizzard make changes to revitalize the auction house, or will it slowly fade into obscurity? One thing is certain, however: the BMAH’s relevance is in question, and its purpose is no longer clear.

The point of the black market was to give players a chance to get very rare, or removed from the game items for a high price. Blizzard is slowly giving out every single item from the bmah for free.
It started with the Pandaria world boss mounts. They would go for gold cap in bmah. Then in Dragonflight, they heavily increased the drop rate of those mounts. In remix they gave them away for free.
After that, they started to give away TCG with Twitch prime and twitch drops. People spent millions for tcg tabards in bmah.
Then, they added back T3 in the game, but this time you still have to spent a lot of gold, so it feels less bad for those who spent millions in their set.
And now, they bring back the core hound mount and obsidian worldbreaker, 2 mounts that some people spent millions once again. It's great news that those mounts are back in the game, but they shouldn't have been in the bmah in the first place. This feels like a scam.
What's next? Free Zulian tiger for everyone? If they are going this route, they should remove the BMAH entirely from the game. I'm fortunate enough to have never spent gold in bmah, but if I spent millions or gold cap on something that they will give it away for free, I wouldn't be too happy about it. Nobody can predict the future.

Do you like those mounts because they look good or because other people don’t or cant have it?
I paid off my loan, freeloaders these shouldn’t get a free ride
Why should cosmetic items be restricted to people who were playing at a certain moment or who are able to amass millions of gold?
lmao
literally who cares, it’s a cosmetic in a videogame. most of them function exactly the same as each other.
people are completely missing the point im making. Im saying the bmah should be removed so people dont spend lot of gold on something they will eventually give away for free. I dont care if they give those for free, I just want to prevent more people getting scammed.
Just don’t buy anything from the bmah. Problem solved.
I mean you’ll never know what will become ‘free’ or easy to attain, that may be on the BMAH. It’s a gold sink for people who want ‘ultra rare’ stuff.
It’s all pixels bruh, if they mean that much to you, you have a problem…
