SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: The wait is over for thousands of runners as the Sydney Marathon commences on a beautiful day in New South Wales. With the sun shining bright, athletes from around the world set off from the start point in College Station, tackling the iconic 42km course.
According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere was electric as runners donning their brightly colored bib numbers and trainers of all kinds, lined up at the starting line. The mood was a mix of nervous energy, excitement, and determination, as participants anticipated the journey of a lifetime.
At least 41,500 runners are registered to take part in today’s marathon, with approximately 75% of finishers expected to cross the finish line at the legendary Sydney Opera House. Security is high, with volunteers and law enforcement personnel assisting with traffic management, traffic control, and ensuring all participants stay safe throughout their journey. Roads along the course are closed, or partially closed, to aid in smooth navigation for racers and spectators alike.
As participants begin their climb up the Sydney Harbour Bridge, fans are eagerly tracking their loved ones’ journeys on GPS tracking devices.
