FLOODS IN EUROPE: WOMAN RESCUED BY HELICOPTER IN ENGLAND

London, England – A dramatic rescue operation unfolded in the early hours of the morning as a woman was plucked from the floodwaters by a helicopter in the English countryside.

The 35-year-old woman, who has not been named, was trapped in her home in the village of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, after the River Thames burst its banks and flooded the surrounding areas.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2:30am, and a rescue helicopter from the West Midlands Ambulance Service was dispatched to the area.

The helicopter, a Sikorsky S-92, landed in a nearby field and a team of rescuers made their way to the woman’s home, where they found her trapped on the roof.

The rescuers, who were equipped with ropes and harnesses, carefully lifted the woman from the roof and carried her to the helicopter, where she was winched to safety.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition.

FLOODING WORSENED BY HEAVY RAINFALL

The flooding in the area is believed to have been caused by heavy rainfall in the region over the past 24 hours, which has seen the River Thames rise to levels not seen in over 20 years.

The Met Office has issued a red warning for heavy rain and flooding in the area, with forecasters warning that the situation is likely to worsen in the coming hours.

RESIDENTS EVACUATED AS FLOODWATERS RISE

As the floodwaters continue to rise, residents in the affected areas are being evacuated to safer locations.

The local authorities have set up emergency shelters and are providing support to those affected by the flooding.
