Sims Franchise Fans Left Disappointed as EA Confirms No Sims 5 Release in the Near Future
March 15, 2023 – In a shock announcement that has sent waves of disappointment throughout the gaming community, Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed that there will be no new installment in the beloved Sims series, Sims 5.
The news comes as a devastating blow to fans who have been eagerly awaiting a new Sims game, expecting a fresh installment to reignite the magic of the franchise. The Sims, which has been a flagship series for EA since its debut in 2000, has been a household name, with millions of players worldwide enjoying the freedom to create and control virtual characters.
The decision not to release Sims 5 is reportedly due to various factors, including the growing competition in the gaming industry and the need to shift focus to other successful franchises like FIFA and Madden NFL. Additionally, EA has emphasized the importance of quality over quantity, stating that it is more crucial to continue refining and improving existing game experiences rather than rushing into a new release.
EA has assured fans that development on the next-generation game engine, Frostbite 3, will continue to drive innovation and improvements within the Sims franchise. Furthermore, the company has revealed plans to release new downloadable content (DLC) packs for existing Sims titles, such as The Sims 4, to maintain the franchise’s momentum and engagement.
While the announcement has left many fans stunned and disappointed, it remains to be seen how EA’s decision will impact the franchise’s future. Can the Sims franchise continue to thrive without a new standalone game, or will it suffer from stagnation?

I'm referring to this article:
Apparently there isn't going to be a Sims 5? Or at least…they seem to imply that it exists but won't be a replacement for the previous game?
Honestly the entire way that everything was phrased was very confusing. What are your thoughts on this?

The Sims 5 was likely canceled, as per reports from a few months back.
Project Rene is not The Sims 5. It’s the cross-platform, mobile-inclusive thing they showcased in the past.

Someone on here made a good point in another thread that Project Rene has always been an update to The Sims 4 and not The Sims 5
It kinda makes sense and y’all can correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t they always say The Sims 4 will be here for years and Project Rene will work beside it?
They have said before that they intend for the new sims game to be played along with previous games. I don’t think it’s The Sims 5 people are expecting, but a sims game that isn’t meant to replace the sims 4
Guess inzoi is gonna be the new sims 5 replacment for me then 🙁 I’m still happy with sims 3 tbh it’s timeless
The only way Sims 4 is gonna survive is a massive graphic overhaul it is a 10 year old game btw. Obviously Project Rene was never Sims 5, I don’t think Sims 5 will ever happen, think The Sims is coming to end with Sims 4 and Project Rene, and they’ll focus on multiplayer probs for Sims 4 and rename the entire game and make you pay for it all again it’s typical EA haha.
Genuine question, do people actually want multiplayer?? I don’t get it at all – the thought of it feels very “Club Penguin Nostalgia” to me
wait, is multiplayer coming to the sims 4 or is it referring to project rene?
