文化庁は5年に1回、本を読む習慣について調べています。今年は16歳以上の3559人が答えました。
スマートフォンなどの画面で読む本も入れて、1か月に何冊本を読むか聞きました。「1冊も読まない」と答えた人が62.6%でした。5年前と比べて15ポイント以上増えて、今まででいちばん多くなりました。
本を読む量が少なくなっていると答えた人は69%でした。
本を読まない理由でいちばん多いのは、「スマートフォンやパソコンなどを使っていて、本を読む時間がない」でした。次に多いのは「仕事や勉強が忙しい」でした。
文化庁は「何をしたら、みんなが本をもっと読むようになるか、考えます」と話しています。
