New Delhi, March 15, 2023 – In a shocking revelation, experts have accused RVNL (Rail Vikas Nigam Limited) of not being on the right "track" for India’s infrastructure growth, citing delays and mismanagement in several major rail projects.
According to sources, RVNL has failed to meet its deadlines in many projects, causing frustration among stakeholders and putting a strain on the already limited budget for infrastructure development.
This comes as a blow to the Central Government’s plans to boost India’s economy through infrastructure development, which is a key area of focus for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
Industry experts have warned that if RVNL’s performance continues to deteriorate, it could have a devastating impact on India’s overall growth prospects.
"We cannot afford to have such massive infrastructure projects delayed or stuck due to mismanagement," said a senior infrastructure expert, who wished to remain anonymous. "The economy will suffer, and our development goals will be derailed."
The situation is particularly concerning in light of the recent Union Budget, which allocated a massive INR 7 lakh crores for infrastructure development in the coming financial year.
RVNL’s failures are not limited to a few isolated incidents. Multiple projects, including the flagship Chennai-Bengaluru Corridor, are behind schedule, and some are already facing cost overruns.
The Chennai-Bengaluru Corridor, in particular, is seen as a critical project, which is expected to revolutionize the way goods and services are transported in South India. However, RVNL’s inability to meet the deadline has caused immense delays and frustration among businesses and commuters.
"We had initially expected the project to be completed by 2020, but now we’re looking at a timeline of 2025," said a senior executive of a leading logistics company, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The situation has led to calls for RVNL’s management to be replaced and for a fresh review of the organization’s strategies.
"We need a radical change in the way RVNL operates," said a railway expert, who did not wish to be named. "The organization has failed to deliver on its promises, and it’s time for a fresh start."
As the news continues to unfold, we will provide updates and insights from experts and stakeholders.
