After the Dallas Mavericks’ season came to an end on Monday in a 106-88 loss in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, star guard Kyrie Irving took to social media to post an encouraging message to fans.

Irving wrote that Mavs fans should “keep your head up high” and be proud of the team’s run in the postseason:

Irving posted just 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting as the Mavs faced a stingy Celtics defense. The 32-year-old performed well below his standards in three games in Boston, combining to shoot just 18-of-53 on the road in the Finals.

The Mavs were playing in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011, so fans are certainly hoping that it won’t be another 13 years before the team reaches this stage again.

It sounds like Irving is confident that he can help lead Dallas to its second title in franchise history before his tenure with the team comes to an end.
