Florida Deputy Says He Accidentally Shot Girlfriend While Dry-Firing Gun

A former Florida deputy has been charged with battery and false imprisonment after allegedly shooting his girlfriend while dry-firing his gun.

According to authorities, 34-year-old former deputy Brian Miller was arguing with his 29-year-old girlfriend, Amanda Blair, at their home in Lake County, Florida, on Wednesday evening. Miller, who was off-duty at the time, retrieved his gun from the safe and began dry-firing it in an attempt to calm down.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Miller accidentally discharged the weapon, striking Blair in the leg. Blair was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Miller was arrested and charged with battery and false imprisonment. He was later released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.
