Rural Electrification Project Exposed: Over $4 Billion Overcharging Revealed
Lagos, Nigeria – A shocking revelation has been made public today, shedding light on the massive overcharging of the Projet d’électrification rurale, a Nigerian government-backed initiative aimed at electrifying rural communities.
According to sources, a staggering sum of over 4 billion naira ($10.9 million) has been embezzled in the project, leaving many rural residents in the dark – literally and figuratively.
The scandal comes as a blow to the government’s efforts to increase access to electricity in the country’s rural areas. The project, which was launched in 2017, aimed to connect thousands of rural households to the national grid.
