This is just a venting post. I’m sure there’s
probably dozens of others cluttering the subreddit today, but I just had to let it out. I really wanted that PS5 Pro 30th anniversary edition and only found out about the queue ten minutes before sales went live. I’ve been looking for news updates for weeks. And then it just drops out of thin air.
Grrrrr….

I knew about it for weeks, waited for this moment, logged in as the clock struck the queue time, waited in anticipation and just as I was about to get in, it Kicks me and it went from 5 minutes wait to over an hour estimated wait time..
My biggest problem was getting one into my cart, just to get an error, then it was removed from my cart and pressing the add to cart button on anything on the site doesn’t work!!!!!
No.
Yes. They should have set it up like they did during Covid. Email sign up and hope you get called to order. They put us in a queue to put us in a queue and some were lucky enough to get in before the release happened and refresh the page. I was not lucky.
I’m only upset because I waited for almost 2 hours, got the edge in my cart, and then it went out of stock as I was placing my order. Such a terrible system Sony created here.
Yeah, its been a complete shitshow. I thought maybe they were hiding details and making it overly complicated to throw off the bots, but it looks like that didn’t even work.
Really pissed, because a German news site stated, that PlayStation posted something about sales starting around 11am. Looked on the PlayStation site around 9:30, and sat in the queue until 11am. Didn’t stand a chance.
Yes I’m extremely frustrated today. I was still able to pre-order a pro with no extra accessories. Not the 30th anniversary edition bundle like I wanted. I got into the store early. But due to being on mobile since I was at work I could not add anything to my cart. It just wouldn’t work. I’m pissed off and I don’t want to talk about it anymore.
I mean, yeah, I’m a little frustrated. But not about the queue. All the queue did was ensure that some actual gamers were able to get their hands on them and the entire stock wasn’t secured by scalper bots in milliseconds, and I’m happy for those who managed to snag it.
I wanted to use the thing though, not “collect” it, so I’ll either pick up a set of bootleg plates on Aliexpress or paint them myself. I’m handy like that.
Nah. Missed out on the limited edition bundle, but snagged controllers and a Portal.
Yes. For a moment i thought it would be a good idea to call the support and ask for what purpose they have my email. Every few weeks i get a survey and i take part in their beta program. So how the fuck are they not able to send me an email wherein they tell when preorders start ?!
I get we have the 30th especial edition and whatnot but Haven’t we learned anything from the Ps5 release?
This thing is crooked from the begin!
If we don’t give a shit about the release day/week even month after ir scalpers won’t have anything to profit on and Sony will fix it next time around!
I won’t play this stupid fan boy game no more (it’s no fair seems like it’s s fixed from the inside of Sony or the IT department something I don’t know )next year I’ll get mine even cheaper!
No, I didn’t even try. This is the world now: scalpers and bots get games, shoes, figures, etc. There’s no hope for the real consumers. I miss the days of going to the store to pre-order or going out to get the product.
I hate these frantic drops too. That said last night on ps direct they did post what time it would drop. But sadly it was always gping to be a shitshow. Sorry amigo.
Yeah i feel you. Very frustrated.
They didn’t even try to keep scalpers away. Could’ve put barriers in place like ‘needing to have placed a psdirect order in the last year but before the ps5 pro limited edition was announced’, or a ‘ps plus member for _ months in the last year’ or something.
Something like what Steam did with the Steam Deck would’ve been better. Saying that, anything would be better lol.
Sony have been poor with most of their themed items. Like the controllers are sold out in minutes but then on eBay for 7or8 times their value. Sony don’t care about the scalpers as that’s guaranteed their sales forecast. Disappointing this happens virtually every time they bring out themed items
lol the same thing happen in 2020 with the PS5. I got one preorder before 3 days before the actual date. Sony just sucks at launching
I’m more frustrated that when I got out of the queue I can’t add anything to cart, and the issue still persists.
Until yesterday everyone was saying it’s expensive and nobody will buy it…
Try Incognito mode!
I didn’t even want the super limited pro bundle, I just wanted a fucking controller and I couldn’t get it. Joined the queue before it opened, it stayed paused for me until 10-15 minutes after the start time and then dumped me in the back of the line. I didn’t get into the site until 11:45 and everything was gone. I really don’t understand why the fuck Sony sucks so much.
I think the most annoying part, is the sheer lack of volume. 12600 or something? I assume worldwide, not per region.
I was on the queue for ages, got my spot, all that was available was the portal or edge, and normal pro.
It looks like there was only the full retro bubdle to start with? So no retro Pro without the other stuff.
It was obvious this would be scalped, which ofc Sony don’t actually care about. Because a sale is a sale.
They could have also made a lot more units, and it could still have been ‘limited’.
I mean I didn’t need one, but I’d have bought one.
The queue is fine, pros are still available as we speak. What you’re mad at is the low numbers that were made, so low that you had better chance to be hit by lightning
Yeah, I think I was close to getting it, I was able to get into the store at 9:30 CST but right then it was announced it was sold out.
I think I will hope for ps1 colored plates for my regular ps5
It didn’t drop out of thin air, the date was revealed at the State of Play on Tuesday.
It’s frustrating that it’s such a fixed limited edition. The only solution to that would have been to wait and make unlimited pre-orders available, with a certain cutoff date, then make as many as they needed to fill pre-orders and that’s it. Still would have been a limited edition. Everyone who wanted one who could afford it would have gotten one, and the scalpers would be out of luck.
