On a relisten as I wait for SA5, and the first retelling of The Girl Who Looked Up is playing right now. I’ve seen people talk about this one as well as The Dog and the Dragon being adapted as children’s books before, but was wondering if there has ever been any official news about them being made.

With the recent publication of “the most boring book ever”, it seems Brandon is making at least a foray into children’s books, so I have my fingers crossed here.

I’d love this to come about one day, because I would love to read “Dog and Dragon” (happy ending” to my kids when they are young, and have it become one of those engrained childhood books. There’s so many of those that my parents read to me as a kid, but I don’t remember them in their entirety.

But imagine my kids reading Rhythm of War in their teen years, not having thought of “Dog and Dragon” in years. They get to the chapter where it is told by Wit, and it starts coming back to them. And imagine the absolute gut wrench of “and the dog thought to himself ‘I am an absolute failure’”.

That scene is already so hard hitting just from Wit’s story telling, but imagine it when you KNEW that the dog was supposed to be content, that was a core childhood memory. Then the story changes.
