So for a while now my local Walmart have been running sensory-friendly hours. I think it's the same for all others in USA and Puerto Rico
https://corporate.walmart.com/news/2023/11/07/small-changes-big-impact-sensory-friendly-hours-return
Sensory-friendly hours from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time, not only on Saturdays, but every day at all Walmart U.S. and Puerto Rico stores
Anyways, I 100% prefer it.
For those of you who never experienced it. The changes are
- No music.
- If there is any TV then it is static.
- Not a lot of customers.
- They should dim the lights, but honestly I don't think I've ever seen one do this.
Personally, I wish other stores would do this. But beyond this, I wish they expanded it. But I have a feeling they picked 8-10am because a low customer count during those times.
I think the music thing is there because people are …. people. They want the casino experience to bring them in, the flashy ads on TV, etc. Likely this increases sells. Studies show slower music causes people to shop longer and likely buy more. The more people at an area will attract more people which increases sells in itself. It can push for impulse buys. etc.
Like my point is I would be extremely shocked if the hours change all that much.
