I started Lexapro again yesterday for the second time this year. I felt immediate relief from my anxiety, constant worrying and overthinking which has been making me feel especially hopeless since my ankle surgery earlier this month. I’m dealing with a lot of discomfort and the inability to bear weight on one leg has been a challenge. I am staying with my parents and this week, I found out I have another 4 weeks of this rather than the week I was expecting. So I finally decided I needed help and saw my psychiatrist yesterday.
I have a pretty much lifelong history of anxiety. I am 45F and had difficulty with behaviors I learned in behavioral health units and hospitals for many years, but I stopped all those negative behaviors in October 2014 when I got my first emotional support animal, my first cat. I am on my second cat now.
I do enjoy the immediate relief I’m feeling from the anxiety, but I am feeling pretty sleepy and I take a pretty high dose of pain meds for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome also. I need both of the medications but I’m hoping that I will be able to adjust to the side effects and give it a chance this time around.
I guess a lot of people ask if the side effects go away (I did search), so I won’t ask again.
I am just grateful for the escape from my thoughts. I have been told many times this month especially that I’m worrying too much. As if it’s news to me.
