PATNA: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man who was bitten by a venomous snake in Patna died after the police allegedly detained him and demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000 to take him to the hospital.

According to sources, the incident occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday when the man, identified as Rohit Kumar, was bitten by a snake while sleeping in his house in the Bankipur area of Patna.

Kumar’s family members rushed him to the nearby police station, seeking help. However, the police allegedly detained him and demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000 to take him to the hospital.

As Kumar’s condition worsened, his family members were unable to afford the bribe, and he eventually died on the way to the hospital.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals, with many demanding action against the police officers involved.

"This is a shocking case of police apathy and corruption," said a local resident. "The police should have taken immediate action to save the man’s life, but instead, they were more interested in collecting a bribe."

An investigation has been launched into the incident, and an FIR has been filed against the police officers involved.
