Notifications Alert: Apple and Google Fined for Failure to Comply with EU Regulation
Brussels, Belgium – The European Union has imposed hefty fines on Apple and Google for their failure to provide users with transparent and customizable notification settings on their respective operating systems. The penalties, totaling €10 million, come after a comprehensive investigation by the EU’s data protection watchdog, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS).
According to the EDPS, the two tech giants have breached the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by failing to adequately inform users about the processing of their personal data in relation to notifications. The investigation found that both Apple and Google had failed to provide users with clear information about the types of data being collected, the purpose of the data collection, and the ability to manage their notification settings.
"Notifications are an essential feature of modern smartphones, and users have a right to know what’s happening with their personal data," said EDPS Chairman, Giovanni Buttarelli. "Apple and Google have been given ample opportunities to rectify these issues, but unfortunately, they have failed to do so."
The investigation also revealed that both Apple and Google had failed to provide users with adequate means to manage their notification preferences, including the ability to opt-out of certain types of notifications or to choose which apps are allowed to send notifications.
In a statement, an Apple spokesperson said, "We take our commitment to privacy and compliance with EU regulations very seriously. We will review the findings and take necessary actions to ensure we are providing our users with the necessary transparency and control over their notification settings."
A Google spokesperson also commented, "We are reviewing the report and will take steps to address the issues raised by the EDPS. Our goal is to provide users with clear and transparent notification settings that meet their evolving needs."

So ever since the Maintenance, all the likes and matches are gone. And the app isnt working properly at all. That's old news though.
Now, when I get the notification for a match or a message, upon opening the app; there doesn't seem to be any match. This has happened numerous times ever since the Maintenance.
I'm certain I'm not always being unmatched because it's happened too many times. Wherein I'm expected to reply and suddenly the match isn't there anymore.
