So I (M34) was seeing someone (F33) consistently for a couple of weeks. We talked consistently throughout the day and even had a few dates that went really well. Things we talked about included making plans for future trips and date ideas, future goals, common interests, etc (the right things, right?). Her language towards me was extremely affectionate and I reciprocated it back. Things were going more than smooth

Then last Wednesday we decide on a night in. Earlier that day I received news that my job might be in jeopardy due to staffing needs, so that really threw me off the entire day. Later when we were together watching a movie, things heat up and we’re getting into it. I wasn’t really in the mood for sex because I kept thinking about the immediate future and how it might affect my long term plans (going back to school to switch careers as well as to fund the trips we talked about), so I made sure she got here share and only gave her oral and no sex (we haven’t had sex before this either). Also I quit my anti-depressants just days earlier because I no longer needed them, but the side effects were still in (which are pretty unfortunate). She mentioned that we can have sex another time after I did my share and she was reassuring. The next day though she says that she felt off even before I came over to her place.

Everything seemed fine before this. The language, the good morning texts from her, the way we made plans for the future. Is this an indication that there was something else going on or that I was just a disappointment the first time we were about to be intimate? Just feel blindsided and could use some insight.   1. Did you have a conversation with her about your job news and anti-depressants? I think she’d be understanding if you told her what was going on, and honestly you probably shouldn’t have had sex if you weren’t feeling it. But I think if you tell her what’s going on she’ll understand, and it may even build trust between you two.
