This year’s key race is Jamaal Bowman vs. George Latimer
In New York’s 16th Congressional District, it’s the battle between incumbent Rep. Jamaal Bowman and challenger, Westchester County Executive George Latimer in a Democratic primary.
Much of the focus in the race has been on the spending in the race, the most expensive primary in the House of Representatives this year. The other focus has been on the differing opinion between the two on the Israel-Hamas war.
Early polls had Latimer ahead, but in recent days, Bowman has rallied with Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to drum up support for his primary campaign. Latimer, meanwhile has enjoyed the support of Former First Lady, Sen. Hillary Clinton and a former ally of Bowman’s, Former Rep. Mondaire Jones, who himself is running for Congress in NY-17 in November.
