Deni Avdija averaged 14.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists over 75 games last season.

The Washington Wizards reportedly have agreed to trade forward Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for guard Malcolm Brogdon, the No. 14 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, a 2029 first-round pick and two future second-round picks according to multiple reports.

Wizards get:

  • Malcolm Brogdon
  • No. 14 pick in 2024 NBA Draft
  • 2029 first-round pick (second-most favorable from Portland)
  • 2028 second-round pick
  • 2030 second-round pick

Trail Blazers get:

Avdija, a 6-foot-9 forward drafted ninth overall in 2020, is coming off a career season in which he averaged 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 37.4% from 3-point range. His improvement was a bright for the otherwise struggling Wizards, and it earned him a sixth-place finish in Kia Most Improved Player voting.

Avdija signed a a reported four-year, $55-million contract extension with the Wizards last October and is under contract through the 2027-28 season.

Portland sheds some of its surplus of draft picks while adding a 23-year-old rotation player to its post-Damian Lillard era. The Blazers finished the 2023-24 season with a 21-61 record and hold the seventh overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Meanwhile Washington further resets its own roster ahead of using the No. 2 overall pick in Wednesday’s draft. Brogdon, a veteran guard on an expiring contract, could remain to help guide a young Wizards squad or be involved in another trade.
